The library was opened in 1970 and underwent major renovation in 2023. Its area is 250 m2. The library’s book collection consists of printed, dotted, voiced and periodicals in flat font. Today, the library’s book collection consists of 210,000 copies, and the number of its users is 1,800 people, including 380 blind and visually impaired readers.
In 2024, 11,000 people visited the library, and 36,000 copies of printed publications were issued.
The library is equipped with the latest modern tiflo-aids, in particular, a Braille display, pocket magnifying glasses, EVEREST D-V5 Braille printers, OPTELEC reading machines, computers with special JAWS software and Internet access. The library has a recording studio.
Library visitors are offered board games: chess, togyz kumalak, dominoes. The library holds various events for people with disabilities to effectively use their cultural leisure. The library has implemented the projects “Braylist” and “Dombra-dastan”, and provides the service “Bibliotherapy”. Bibliotherapy is a method of treatment and psychological support through reading books, which helps people cope with emotional, psychological stress and social problems, and also promotes personality development.
