Taner Beyoğlu
Taner Beyoğlu commenced his distinguished career at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 2006 and has since made significant contributions to cultural policy and innovation. He earned his Master’s degree in “Cultural Policy and Cultural Management” from City University of London, where his thesis, focused on digital transformation in arts institutions, was awarded with distinction. His academic work highlights his ability to merge technology with cultural heritage in ways that serve the public good, and his ongoing doctoral research at King’s College London further reflects his commitment to shaping cultural industries.
As General Director of Libraries and Publications, Mr. Beyoğlu oversees all public libraries and the National Library of Türkiye. His leadership has been instrumental in fostering international collaboration, having signed Memorandums of Understanding with numerous countries, thus enhancing Türkiye’s role in the global library network (IFLA, CDNL, CENL, SEENL, ECO, BSEC, SRILA). Türkiye’s strategic position allows Mr. Beyoğlu to bridge diverse cultural and geopolitical spheres, fostering the sharing of knowledge between Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia, and beyond. His ability to bridge diverse cultural and political spheres is invaluable to the global library community.
Known for his open and inclusive leadership style, Mr. Beyoğlu regularly supports ideathons in libraries and publishing, fostering a culture of innovation and teamwork. His initiatives ensure the National Library’s resources are accessible not only in Ankara but across Türkiye, making information available to diverse communities through national-public library collaborations.
