Opportunities to speak and calls for papers will be added to this website under the Programme heading. Check back often to see how you can share your projects and experiences with colleagues around the world.

Only the opening and closing session will be live-streamed.

We will be providing more information about Library Tours in Kazakhstan closer to the Conference.

All tours will take place on Friday 22 August. We very much encourage you to participate in these to experience the activities and environment of the local library field. They are keen to show you around. 

Who should attend the World Library and Information Congress?

Everyone is welcome! We believe it will be a valuable opportunity for members of our field at all career stages and in any library type to attend, participate in, and gain from the experience. Let’s build the Future together with our united knowledge.

The Congress will take place in Astana, Kazakhstan, at the Congress Center and The Hilton Astana. The main Sessions will be from 18 to 21 August, and library visits will be on 22 August.

We are exploring options to ensure smooth communication for all conference attendees.

We have utilized AI translation in the past and plan to employ it again in Astana for all the session rooms.

What is included in the registration fee?

The following is included in a full registration:

Entrance to: 

  • all Sessions
  • Exhibition Area
  • Exhibition Opening Party
  • Cultural Evening
  • one Library Visit (upon availability)

Yes, one and two-day Tickets are available; please review the Registration Page for more information.

Group registrations are accepted for a minimum of 10 participants. For further information, please contact wlic-registration@kit-group.org. Additionally, if you register 11 full registrations or more, one participants will receive a free full registration.

Early Bird registration deadline is 15 May 2025 and Standard registration ends on 15 August 2025. After this date you will have to register onsite, for the onsite fee. 

Check the General Terms & Conditions for all the details.

Payment is required at the time of registration and is due in EUR, using one of the following methods: Credit Card (Visa, AMEX or MasterCard are accepted. Credit cards are debited in EUR.) or Bank Transfer – until 1 August 2025.

If you register onsite, you can pay by Credit Card or Cash; we will accept EUR or KZT as Currency.

Does IFLA provide a letter of attendance?

Yes, IFLA will provide a letter of attendance per email after the event is over.

Yes, we anticipate a range of grants being available. Please check the website regularly for updates and look out for announcements in our News section.

Media passes are available. Contact wlic-registration@kit-group.org for more information. Please note a copy of your press card is required.

Yes, your registration fee will be refunded. Please read the Terms and Conditions that apply for obtaining a refund. Note that while we have liaised with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan to alert them to international participants for the Conference, we are unable to intervene in decisions made by Kazakh authorities with regard to visas.

which airport should i fly to?

If you do not attend a Satellite Meeting in another city, you should travel to

Astana International Airport (Nursultan Nazarbayev Airport, NQZ)

a state-of-the-art airport connecting Kazakhstan to Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. 

We are contacting local Hotels to offer fixed, negotiated prices in different categories. The list will be made available at the beginning of 2025.

Venues

Where does the Conference take place?

The Conference will take place at the Congress Center and the Hilton Astana Hotel on the territory of the EXPO complex in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan.

Yes, both venues are accessible, and the walk between them as well.

Both venues will offer stations at which you will be able to buy drinks and food.

Both venues offer free Wi-Fi for Conference attendees. More details about the Network name and Password will be shared closer to the Conference dates.
