IFLA ARL Attendance Grants

The IFLA Academic and Research Libraries Section (ARL), with generous sponsorship by SAGE, is offering SIX (6) Attendance Grants for the 2025 World Library and Information Congress in Astana, Kazakhstan. The program supports those new to the LIS field (less than 10 years of practice) in experiencing the World Library Information Congress.  Two awardees will be selected from each of these regions: Africa, Latin America and Asia/Pacific.

Alan Hopkinson’s IFLA Conference Award 2025

The Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) and its International Library and Information Group (ILIG) is pleased to invite applications for the Alan Hopkinson Award 2025 to attend the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) conference to be held in Astana, Kazakhstan, 18th-22nd August 2025. This Award enables a CILIP member to experience the IFLA Congress. The Award covers the whole cost of the IFLA conference fee and £100 towards travel and accommodation.

Discovery Grants

This grant offers 25 professionals from IFLA institutional members to attend WLIC 2025. This opportunity allows professionals to share insights globally and bring back innovative ideas to their institutions. The grant covers the full registration fee, but recipients are responsible for all other costs associated with their attendance.

Central Asia Grants

The Central Asia grants are offered to five professionals from Central Asia to attend the conference. This opportunity promotes global collaboration and knowledge exchange in the library field. The grant covers the full registration fee plus EUR 400 contribution for travel or accommodation.

Margreet Wijnstroom Grant

The Margreet Wijnstroom Grant will support one delegate from a UN-designated least-developed country to attend this year’s Conference. This initiative promotes inclusivity and brings a new voice to the international library community. The grant includes full coverage of the registration fee, along with a contribution of EUR 400 to assist with travel or accommodation expenses for the selected candidate.

Angela Bersekowski Grants

Thanks to Angela Bersekowski’s legacy, IFLA is offering 10 grants for young professionals to attend IFLA WLIC 2025. This initiative supports the next generation of library leaders, fostering fresh ideas, global conversations, and future professional connections. The grant includes full coverage of the registration fee, along with a contribution of EUR 400 to assist with travel or accommodation expenses for the selected candidates.

School Librarian Participation Grant

We are excited to offer a grant to one dedicated school librarian to attend the IFLA WLIC 2025! This is a unique opportunity to bring the valuable perspective of school librarians to a global stage, while helping to enrich the conversation and strengthen the connection between different library sectors. The grant will cover the full registration fee.

Dr. Shawky Salem Conference Grant (SSCG)

This annual grant was established by Dr. Shawky Salem and IFLA. It enables one expert in library and information sciences from the Arab Countries (AC) to attend the IFLA Congress. Candidates should be of Arab nationality, not exceed 45 years, have experience of at least 5 years in LIS profession and have the approval of his / her organisation. Priority is given to applicants who are first-time attendees to the IFLA Congress.

2025 IFLA PressReader International Marketing Award

Win €3,500 in funds to travel to the 2025 World Library and Information Congress (WLIC) in Astana, Kazakhstan! The 2025 IFLA PressReader International Marketing Award recognizes the best library marketing projects from 2024, aims to encourage marketing in libraries and provides an opportunity for libraries to share marketing experience and expertise globally.
