Invitation to Volunteer

On behalf of the Kazakh National Committee of the World Library and Information Congress (WLIC) 2025, we kindly invite you to volunteer during the Congress, which will be held from 18 to 22 August 2025, at the Congress Center and the Hilton Astana Hotel on the territory of the EXPO complex in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan.

Volunteers will play an integral role in supporting IFLA WLIC 2025. They are key to creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere for delegates while assisting the hosts in delivering a professionally run Congress.

Benefits

Receive free registration as a Volunteer at IFLA WLIC 2025. Volunteers are a valued part of the Congress. After your shifts, you can attend the conference sessions, network with fellow librarians and explore the exhibition.

Criteria

The criteria for selection are as follows:

  • You must be at least 18 years.
  • You must have a basic level of English to communicate with participants from around the world.
  • Through your own arrangements, you must be available to attend scheduled training sessions online and in person on Saturday, 16 August, in Astana.
  • You are available to perform your volunteer duties from 16 August until 22 August 2025 through your own arrangements. IFLA does not provide accommodation or transport during the congress.
  • You are physically fit to maintain a moderate level of physical activity for 8 hours per day and able to be on foot and move at a quick pace. If you are using a wheelchair or have other impairments that would hinder this, please indicate this in the volunteer form, and we can look for a suitable position for you.
  • Able to fund and take care of your own travel arrangements (including flights, visa, transportation, and accommodation).

We are looking for volunteers with the time, dedication, and enthusiasm to assist us in successfully delivering this international event. If you are professional, committed, hardworking, reliable, and culturally sensitive, then you are exactly what we are looking for. Your details on the completed forms will be held securely and confidentially. Only the selection committee will have access to this information.

A series of upskilling programmes and training sessions will be offered to volunteers, and an information kit will be provided regarding specific duties and benefits.
