The IFLA Information Technology Section invites your proposals for paper presentations at the World Library and Information Congress (WLIC), in Astana, Kazakhstan, from 18–22 August 2025.

 

Theme: “Technology for All: Closing Gaps in Digital Inclusion and Equity in Technology.”

 

This event will explore practical approaches to closing gaps in digital inclusion and accessibility through use of technology solutions and creative strategies to implementing technology and information integrity. The session will include a selection of case studies and examples of how technology can contribute to more equitable discovery and use of information. Papers should reflect the conference theme, “Uniting Knowledge, Building the Future”. 

 

This is a broad topic and we welcome proposals that cover:

  • Work that supports digital accessibility, compliance with accessibility guidelines and regulations, or promote wider access
  • Research or implementation of technology services to differently-abled patrons
  • Technology projects bridging the digital divide
  • Multi-lingual services and associated technologies
  • Technology design and development; software and hardware considerations and training
  • User interface design that facilitates more equitable discovery and use of information

 

Important dates & deadlines:

 

  • 11 May 2025: Deadline for submission of proposals/abstracts
  • 23 May 2025: Notification to authors about the status of a submission
  • 01 July 2025: Submission of the full text of the paper
  • 03 August 2025: Submission of accompanying PowerPoint slides for presentation

Proposals will be reviewed by a subcommittee created from volunteers from the IT Section Standing Committee and selected based on relevance to the topic, geographic representation, and original practical advice offered for attendees.
